Pinocchio On Broadway

On Wednesday, April 15th, we celebrated the 200th anniversary of the birth of Carlo Collodi, creator of Pinocchio. In collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, the Department of Italian Studies hosted a discussion on the legendary show directed by Yasha Frank for the Federal Theatre Project on Broadway in 1939. Led by Georgetown University’s Professor Gianni Cicali, the event featured original songs from the 1939 production, performed by Georgetown students, and was attended by the grandchildren of Yasha Frank himself.
