Italian Americans in Media and Beyond: Between Stylemes and Stereotypes

The Department of Italian invites you to a lecture by Fulvio S. Orsitto who is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Italian and Italian American program at California State University at Chico. Born in Turin, Italy, he holds undergraduate degrees from the University of Turin, an M.A. in Film Studies and a Ph.D. in Italian from the University of Connecticut.

The first part of the lecture will focus on the depiction of Italian Americans in films and TV shows, emphasizing the most recurring stylemes and stereotypes. The second part will briefly touch upon the presence of Italian Americans in the American music industry.

The lecture will be held on Monday, March 31st at 12:30 p.m. in ICC 462.
